One of the conclusions of this new study is that unlike octopus, for example, that also changes color, chameleons don't do it because they have pigment in their skin cells.
Chameleons have a layer of cells, specific of its kind, which can adjust according to light reflection.
That means that, unlike squid or octopus, which change color due to pigments on the skin, chameleon depend on external sources of light to accomplish that.
The scientists involved in research, have just published the conclusions of their study.
